Ian is a freelance professional guitar player with over 35years experience. Living in Swindon, Wilts, UK Ian travels through out the South of England and can often be seen performing at festivals and private functions with 'Nuages,' or as a solo guitarist. Along with Ian's current musical partnerships Ian is available to play as a solo guitarist at weddings, parties, functions, hotels and wine bars etc. His solo repertoire includes many popular tunes both jazz classics and more recent pop hits.

Equipment

Ian is passionate about his guitar sound and chooses his guitars and amplification to suit his clients needs. Ian's guitars include several handmade guitars by top British luthiers. These days he prefers to play acoustic guitars, Spanish or classical guitars and his much loved Jazz archtop made by Ken Walton. These he finds more expressive and responsive to his needs as a player. Amplification is usual dependant on the size of the venue and volume needed for very small gigs he will use a Trace Elliot acoustic amp and for slightly larger situations a high quality stereo Electro voice and Yamaha PA. Ian also uses a device called a Looper for solo gigs. This clever little gadget that enables him to record guitars as he plays giving the listener the experience that 2 guitars are playing. In reality Ian is doing all of this live. He refuses to use pre-recorded backing tracks.

Fees

Ian is happy to discuss his fees which are dependant on how long he plays and the distance he travels to the venue. Please contact him for a quotation. To confirm a booking you will be asked for a £50 deposit the balance of your account to be paid at the time of performance. Confirmation of your booking will always be made in writing by either letter or email.

General

As a professional musician Ian works hard on not only his playing but also his reputation. He is a Musicians Union member and holds Public Liability Insurance to the sum of £10,000,000. He believes live music has a special quality and can really create the right atmosphere for his clients. Please always feel free to contact him to discuss what you would like.
